Products covered by this recall

This recall involves all units of the Hatsan Blitz and Blitz 777 pellet shooting air rifles sold from February 2020 through March 2026. Both the Blitz and Blitz 777 pellet air rifles were sold in .22, .25 and .30 calibers. The pellet air rifles are gas operated and select-fire (semi-auto/full-auto) pre-charged pneumatic (PCP). They are black and feature a synthetic stock, a carbon fiber air tank mounted beneath the barrel and a rotary magazine feed. Serial numbers and manufacturing dates are engraved on the right side of the receiver above the bolt. On the left side of the receiver is the Hatsan logo, featuring a circular mark, with the word "HATSAN" next to a graphic of a bow and arrow. The model name "BLITZ" or "BLITZ 777" is also marked on the left side of the receiver.

What to do with this product now

CPSC recalls are issued because the product can injure someone, very often a child. The safest first move is to put it out of reach rather than to carry on using it carefully.

  1. Stop using the product and move it somewhere a child or pet cannot reach it. Do not pass it on, resell it or donate it — reselling a recalled product is illegal in the United States.
  2. Check the model number, date code and any markings against the details above. Photograph them; almost every claim form asks for a picture.
  3. Follow the remedy the notice specifies. Some recalls want the product returned, some want a free repair kit fitted, and some ask you to destroy the item and send a photo as proof.
  4. Register the recall with the company before you destroy anything, unless their instructions say otherwise. Once the item is gone you may lose the evidence a refund depends on.
  5. If the product already hurt someone, file a report at SaferProducts.gov. Those reports are public and are how the CPSC spots the next hazard.

Claiming your refund, repair or replacement

The recalling company decides the remedy and funds it. You should never have to pay for a recall repair or for return shipping.

  • Use the company contact on this page first. Most firms run a dedicated recall page with an online claim form that is far quicker than their main support line.
  • Have the model number, the date code and your photos ready. Many companies issue the refund as store credit by default — ask for cash or a card reversal if you would rather have it.
  • No receipt? Say so. Refunds on recalled products are routinely paid without proof of purchase, because the hazard, not your paperwork, is what triggers the obligation.
  • If you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, try both. Large chains such as Target, Walmart and Amazon often refund recalled goods directly from the store or order history.
  • If the company stops responding, escalate to the CPSC. Firms under a recall order have reporting duties to the agency and the pressure usually works.

Remedy named in the notice: Consumers should stop using the recalled air rifles immediately, make sure they are unloaded and contact HatsanUSA for a free trigger assembly replacement which will be mailed along with instructions. If the consumer does not want to complete the replacement of the air rifle trigger assembly on their own, HatsanUSA will provide a prepaid package to ship the product to HatsanUSA for inspection and replacement.

Company contact: HatsanUSA toll-free at 877-750-3375 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, email at blitzrecall@hatsanusa.com or online at https://hatsanairgunsusa.com/recalls/blitz-and-blitz-777-recall/ and enter password "Hatsan2026!" or https://hatsanairgunsusa.com and click "Warranty & Safety" and then "Recalls" for more information.
